Last week I was blogging about this really interesting verse in Psalm 37 that says
“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart”
From what I’ve seen and heard the last week or so, I honestly believe that God both puts those desires there and then brings them to completion. I’ve been offered a position staffing a Sports DTS with YWAM Newcastle, which involves discipling young people and empowering them to share the love of Jesus through SPORT!
Now, if you’ve met me for more than five minutes you’ll know that these are three things I’m incredibly passionate about… 1) Sport 2) Discipleship and 3) Telling people about Jesus. So here I was presented with this amazing and breathtaking opportunity to do all three at the same time. My thoughts were “Yeah, that’s what I want to do… but what does God want me to do?”. I spent a rather long and frustrating week praying about it (I think I need to build up my perseverance in prayer, because I can see that’s going to be important in the future- but that’s a whole post in itself…) and God spoke some amazing words last friday. It was in response to the question “Should I staff the Sports DTS?” that He said
“Yes you should. You know you should. This is what you were created for!”
I have accepted the position on staff of the January Sports DTS. If you love sport and love Jesus and want to know how the two can join, let me know. This is a school that changed my life (I did the school in January this year, and it was incredible) and I would love to see other young people released into sports evangelism. Woah, ahh! This is so awesome.
So, thanks Jesus for creating and fulfilling this hearts desire. You are amazing!

you are amazing too.
Michael, I find it very cool that this verse (the one in Psalms 37) has spoken to you now; remember before you were on staff we had that very long skype call and you gave me that verse when I was struggling to figure out my next step?
It’s also very cool that prayer through this verse led us both to staff a school =D I love hearing how you came to the conclusion! Good on ya mate!
